October root and renew

October 2025

Theme of the month: Reflect Within

October brings with it a shift in pace. The days grow shorter, the nights stretch out longer, and nature herself begins to draw inward. Leaves fall, seeds settle into the soil, and the wheel of the year edges closer to its turning point.

This is a month for slowing down, for quiet moments, and for honest reflection. As the outer world darkens, we’re invited to light our inner lanterns and look within. What have we carried through the year that still serves us? And what is ready to be gently laid down, like the trees releasing their leaves?

Reflect Within isn’t about dwelling in the past it’s about gathering wisdom, honouring growth, and preparing fertile ground for what’s yet to come.

Important Spiritual Days in October & Ways to Reflect Within

October 2 – Dussehra (Hinduism)

Celebrates the triumph of light over darkness. Suggestion: Take a mindful walk at dawn or dusk, noticing the transition of light—use it as a meditation on inner victories over past patterns.

October 22–23 – Birth of the Báb & Birth of Bahá’u’lláh (Bahá’í Faith)

Days marking spiritual emergence and renewal. Suggestion: Engage in a mini-morning ritual—perhaps sip herbal tea in stillness while setting an intention rooted in hope and inner transformation.

October 31 – Samhain / Samhuinn (Pagan tradition)

The veil thins—perfect for reflection on endings and rebirth. Suggestion: Create a simple altar with a fallen leaf, a pressed flower, or a photo of something you’re ready to release. Sit with it, express gratitude, and let go.

Moon dates

Lunar Wisdom

Full Moon – Monday 6th October, 2025 (Aries)

Aries fire meets autumn’s darkening nights. This moon asks for courage in reflection to face ourselves honestly and release what no longer fuels our flame.

Grounding Ritual: Step outside under the moonlight, feet on the earth if you can. Take three deep breaths, then write down one thing you’re ready to release. Tear the paper into small pieces and let the wind carry it, or bury it in soil as an offering back to the earth.

New Moon – Tuesday 21st October, 2025 (Libra)

A moon of balance and harmony. It’s time to plant seeds of peace, gentleness, and self-kindness as the year winds down.

Grounding Ritual: Light a single candle in a quiet room. Sit in silence and ask yourself: “What brings me back to balance?” Write your answer in your journal, then keep that page folded in your purse, pocket, or under your pillow until the next new moon.

Monthly ritual or release

Who Are You?

At the very front of your journal you’ll find a simple but powerful question: Who are you?
It may look easy at first, you could answer with your family role, your work, where you live. But beneath those surface layers sits something deeper: the essence of who you are when all labels fall away.

This month’s ritual is to sit with that question and let it unfold slowly, like steeping rosemary in warm oil. Don’t rush to find a neat answer. Instead, give yourself a week to explore it in your journal. Each day, write just a few lines not just about what you do, but about what you feel, believe, and carry within.

You might find memories rising, or qualities you had forgotten to name. Some things you write will feel true, some will feel heavy. The reflection itself is the medicine. By the end of the week, you’ll hold a clearer sense of yourself  and you’ll know what parts of that story you wish to carry forward, and what parts you’re ready to gently release.

Keep a sprig of rosemary close by while you write. Its sharp scent clears the mind and helps memory rise to the surface. At the end of the week, hold the sprig in your hands, thank it, and release it back to the earth. In that act, let go of the pieces of your old story that no longer serve the person you’re becoming.

Botanical Sound Seed

Crystal Bowls

This month’s sound seed is a 15-minute crystal bowl recording, tuned to the frequencies of C, G, and E — working with the Root, Throat, and Solar Plexus chakras (you’ll find more chakra info in the back of your journal). It’s your daily frequency medicine, to be taken once a day like a tonic for the soul.

I have created this specifically to be used as short bursts of frequency for the days you don’t make it to a full sound bath, or when life just gets in the way. It’s a great time to sit with and connect to your affirmations, or to work on your gratitude practice (you’ll find guidance for this in the front of your journal).

And some days, it’s just as good to do nothing at all but enjoy the sound. However you use it, this daily dose of vibration will help you settle, reconnect, and “Reflect Within.”

These beautiful healing frequencies are melded into our soundscapes this month, as always by our fabulous resident producer Andy

Botanical Breath - Set your space with Beth

This little video explains our most simple yet efficient tool for your kit. Bringing you back to balance within a few moments, enriching a meditation and most importantly allowing us to take a step back when times feel tough. Its beautiful to try sat outside in nature, but its also invaluable when times are tough, emotions run high and the best place you can go it the loos at work. Lets try and incorporate this lovely little breathwork in to our journey this month. Let me know how you get on.

Lets set up for our spiritual practice, this time focusing on the space within our homes we have to use for our practice. Clear a space you can use, dress with flowers, herbs, crystal, leaves or stones (tip wash our leaves in white vinegar and then dry to keep them lasting longer) add some candles or a diffuser, keep your oils & smudge here and maybe store a rolled up mat there too so its close by for med time when you need it.  Think about what you’d like in that space. Maybe you already have a space, its a lovely time with it being new moon to set intentions about what your practice will look like and give it a cleanse and a move around.  It doesnt matter what kind of space you have, even the smallest part of a shelf can hold a  special space for you to feel calm and rest on your terms. Lets try and find a time each day you can spending some time

October downloads

Andy Littlewood from ZeroFiveZeroFour has again produced our audio downloads for this month, with two music pieces using sound files I created in the studio along with his own beautiful additions.

10-minute Root, Throat and Solar Plexus Chakra Mediation

This piece of healing music was made with the intention to bring a sense of balance and calm to the nervous system. Starting with the grounding tones of the Root Chakra.

As the journey continues it opens up and builds into the frequencies of the Throat Chakra to help you be your most authentic self and Solar Plexus Chakra to help with personal growth and transformation.

Life can get busy, it can get hectic and it can get overwhelming at times. Give yourself 10 minutes every day and listen to this short piece of healing and be kind to yourself. You’re doing your best. You are loved and you are appreciated.

3-hour meditation for transformation

The human voice has been used to heal for thousands of years around the world and in many cultures. This meditation music fuses the healing sounds of the voice and crystal bowls to support deep relaxation and rest, allowing the listener to take time, reflect and embrace inner transformation.

This month's experience

Create a memory circle

Gather with friends or family and sit together to share photos and memories from the year just gone. A beach, a park or garden. Maybe tucked up at home. The place itself matters less than the act of joining together with intention.  As you  sit create a circle and in the centre (if it is safe to do so) create a small fire or fill the centre of the circle with flowers and battery operated candles. Ask everyone to bring a mat, a crystal or a token to place around the centre to be infused with your beautiful vibes and soothing intentions. Hit play on our longer soundscape. Light some smudge and cleanse each person and diffuse Rosemary, Rose and Orange blossom to create a space thats protected and empowered.

Each person shows a selection of photos from the year so far. When others share make a mental note to listen to hear, not to reply. Allow people to sit with their feelings and express rather than rushing to shush them if they express a sadness. That’s okay, releasing is the most important thing.  Notice the moments that rise up the joys, the challenges, the turning points. Pause when a memory feels strong, and take a breath with it. Ask yourself: Do I want to carry this forward, or is it time to release it?

If there is something you feel you’d like to burn (and you can do so safely), take turns and allow each person to release their chosen item to the fire. Watch it as a burns. If you don’t want to use fire, tear in to pieces add to a small paper bag and bury in the ground.

Prepare a 15ml bottle with carrier oil filled with the blend you’ve used to diffuse into your circle (1 drop rose, 1 drop rosemary 1 drop orange blossom) everyone together shake into your palms, gently cupping your nose and mouth and deeply breath in for 4, hold for 4, exhale for 4 and hold for 4. Lie comfortably and allow the healing vibes to wash over you, to connect to our oils, those around you and the intention of honouring what you want to take with and leaving behind what you don’t.

This practice turns a simple gathering into a living ritual reflecting within while honouring the year past, and remembering that reflection shared in community becomes even more powerful.
